Cat Tales: A Spiritual Journey chronicles the author’s journey through life after a painful divorce and tells how his pet cats taught him life-altering lessons. The story is told through the eyes of various narrators, including Bevitz and his many cats. It tells their tale from how they first came to Bevitz, to their integration with the rest of the pride, and the lessons learned along the way.

It is one of Bevitz’s goals to use social media and his book to connect as many animal rescue organizations as possible. Through sharing of information and resources he believes that all of the organizations can benefit.

After getting divorced from his wife Rita, Harvey finds himself wandering through life, lost and not sure where to go next. Through his work with cat rescue groups and his willingness to house strays in dire need of help, he becomes known as the “Cat Man.”

It turns out though that he gains so much from caring for the cats he rescues that he often wonders who rescued whom?

“This story reveals how six cats became eighteen and how, in that process, a man found his soul.” says Bevitz. Lessons learned on this journey include trust, play, patience, certainty, and finally, transformation. Along the way Bevitz also discovers Kabbalah.

At the end of each chapter of the book there are two sections. The first summarizes the teachings of the tale told in that chapter. The second is a workbook section intended for book club members to use as a guide when discussing the chapter and its lessons.
