Ambler Flower Shop to Donate Money to UDHS Post-Prom Party

Upper Dublin High School's Post-Prom Party will soon receive a kind donation from a local resident and business owner.

The Ambler Flower Shop, at 107 East Butler Ave., is donating $5 from every order toward the Upper Dublin High School Post Prom Party, a safe, drug-free/alcohol-free party for seniors following the prom. The free party, which is open to all seniors, relies solely on the financial support of parents and community sponsors.

Longtime Upper Dublin resident and Ambler Flower Shop owner Gene McGonagle said he wanted to support the “fantastic Upper Dublin School District” and all its programs.

“I’m a member of the community and I got chatting with one of the parents on the post prom committee this year and we came up with this idea,” McGonagle said.

The Ambler Flower Shop has been around for the past 100 years; McGonagle has owned it for the last eight years and has lived in the township for about 15 years.

As you may have guessed, McGonagle said Valentine’s Day is the single busiest day for the flower shop.  

“We plan all year for Valentine’s Day,” McGonagle said, “and we’re ready to deliver 400 packages. We have a full staff working — it’s like holiday help — to answer the phones and to welcome customers.”

And McGonagle said it’s not too late to place an order.

“Because we’re local, we can work with you throughout the day to make sure you’re taken care of,” he said.
