Ambler Signs on to Regional Watershed Study

Upper Dublin, Whitpain Township and Ambler Borough join together with Temple University for a watershed study.

The Ambler Borough Council authorized $25,000 to participate in a Temple University study for analysis of the Rose Valley Creek, which will look at the Tannery Run and Honey/Stuart Farm watersheds.

Upper Dublin and Whitpain Townships are also part of the study.

Fran Tomlinson, Councilwoman, asked where the money for the study was coming from for the study.

Mary Aversa, Ambler Borough Manager, said they always budget a little extra in the engineering budget because costs are variable.

In other borough news, the Council approved for the staff to begin working on the process for filing for a water rate increase with the Public Utilities Commission.

Aversa said the borough applied for a rate increase five or six years ago and with the $500,000 of work at Loch Alsh, an increase is needed.

However, a third party reviews the proposed increase to make sure the numbers are fair before the rate increase in implemented.

Aversa added that rates for outside of the borough are slightly higher than those inside the borough.
