Fatal Accident Closes Southbound Lanes of NE Extension
Fatal accident closes southbound lanes of the NE Extension of the PA Turnpike Tuesday morning.
Police, EMS workers and two fire departments responded to a vehicle fire in the southbound lane of the PA Turnpike, at the Jolly Rd. underpass, Tuesday morning.
The cab portion of a tractor-trailer was part of the vehicle fire and as of 8:48 a.m., responders were unsure if the driver was out of the vehicle.
On Twitter @MontcoAlerts tweeted “ONE SUBJ DOA AFTER THE MVA” around 10 a.m.
The Lansdale Reporter is reporting that officers are still on the scene and are expected to be there for several hours.
“Plan X” is in affect for the area, will all southbound traffic diverted at Lansdale to exit and take Rt. 309 to Fort Washington where motorists can get back on the Turnpike.
The northbound lanes of the Northeast Extension remain open.
