Grocery Store Coming to Ambler Borough
Ambler Borough has signed a deal with Bottom Dollar Food to bring a grocery store to Ambler.
Mary Aversa, Ambler Borough Manager, told Ambler Patch on Wednesday that a Bottom Dollar Food store was confirmed to move into the borough in the former Knopf Motors property at 219 E. Butler Ave.
The grocery store will be constructing a new building, approximately 17,000 to 18,000 sq. ft., and will be going through the normal review and approval process as any new construction in the Borough. The plans will have to go in front of Zoning Hearing Board and Planning Commission.
Aversa said the process to find a grocery store for Ambler was different than attracting other businesses to Ambler. Typically, the Main Street Manager would go out and attract businesses to the town. In this case, Aversa was charged with canvassing every grocery store that is out there and finding one that fit Ambler’s needs.
She added that man grocery stores are building grocery superstores, and Ambler doesn’t have the space for a superstore. Aversa said they needed a grocery store that was willing to look at a different model, and a smaller space.
“We’re fortunate Bottom Dollar does [that],” she said.
“This is something that the town desperately wants and needs,” said Aversa. She said that residents of the borough have voiced their concerns and needs for a grocery store they can walk to.
“This is a missing piece that we are thrilled to be getting back,” she said.
The Ambler Gazette reported that the store could complete as early as this spring.

Bottom Dollar is the pits, read customer reviews of their stores on Yelp.....I went to the one in E. Norriton and will never return. Prices not that great, limited selection, but the customer service is the worst, like it is staffed by parolees....

That may be your take on all this but apparently you never shopped at our original food store? I find the stores to be clean. Produce is not left over from full price to sale price 3 weeks later. The prices are 1/2 of what our current available stores offer. Loaf of bread prices did you review them - just for example? AND Check out is NOT one cashier and a line going all the way back to the meat department. They accept coupons and offer a coupon at the register for $$ back on the next trip. Maybe you are the one that needs to find another location to shop and leave the rest of us shop in piece.

Aldi and Shop Rite are far superior low-cost grocers. Your defensive opinion is your own, read the posted reviews by multiple shoppers at several Bottom Dollar stores. Should be called Bottom of the Barrel.....They have a bad local reputation in E. Norriton and King of P...read what people are saying.....this will be a strike out for Ambler
