Police Reports, June 1 to June 7

DUIs, burglaries, retail thefts and more from Ambler, Lower Gwynedd and Whitpain Police Departments.

Borough of Ambler

BURGLARY

On June 6 ay 2:35 p.m. a resident of the 100 block of E Butler Ave. reported he returned home and found his apartment had been burglarized.  Officers observed pry marks around the front door.  A Wii game console valued at $300 was taken along with several pieces of gold and sterling jewelry.

UNDERAGE DRINKING

A 15 yr. old Ambler juvenile was cited for Underage Drinking on June 3 after police responded to the unit block of N. Main St. for a noise complaint. The juvenile was transported to the police department where she was cited and released to a family member.

BURGLARY

A resident of the 100 block of Reiffs Mill Rd. reported upon returning home from work on June 2, she discovered a burglary of her apartment. Pry marks were observed on the door to the apartment.  Resident reported a Dell laptop was stolen along with a Sony digital camera and several pieces of jewelry and coins.        

VEHICLE DAMAGE

On June 1, vehicle parked in the unit block of E Butler Avenue had a rear window smashed out. Nothing was reported missing.  A rock was located by the vehicle.

Lower Gwynedd Township

THEFT

On June 3, a theft of vehicle registration was reported along Swedesford Rd.

THEFT

On June 7 at 8:05 a.m., it was reported that a traffic sign from a work zone was stolen along Hamilton and Judie in the Township.

Whitpain Township

DUI

On June 5 at 2:19 a.m., an officer was on patrol south on Dekalb Pk and observed a tan Jeep traveling north swerve off the roadway. The officer stopped the car at Dekalb Pk and Morris Rd and it appeared that the driver, Jennifer Coopersmith, 30 yrs old of the 100 block of Jefferson Ct in Norristown was intoxicated. She was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital where blood was drawn for analysis. Charges including traffic offenses and DUI will be filed when blood results are received.  

WARRANT SERVICE

On June 2 Anthony Soulsby, 38 yrs old of the 600 block of Dekalb Pk was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant out of Pottstown Borough. An officer checked Mr. Soulsby as a suspicious person when he saw him on Dekalb Pk north of Cherry Rd at 3:26 a.m. and was informed of the warrant. He was taken into custody and later released to Pottstown Police Dept. 

FALSE ID TO LAW ENFORCEMENT

On June 3 at 1:50 a.m., an officer came across two subjects in a vehicle in the parking lot at 686 Dekalb Pk. A seventeen year old male of Upper Dublin and a seventeen year old female out of Center Point initially gave the officer bad information as to their identities. After several follow up questions, the male juvenile admitted who he was and officers were able to contact his parents. They responded to the station to take custody of him. He was issued a citation for Curfew Violation and one for Disorderly Conduct for providing police with false identification. The female was taken to the address she provided when trying to contact her mother. When they got to the residence, she admitted that she gave the wrong address and then provided the officer with the correct address. She was taken home, cited for Curfew Violations and Disorderly Conduct for providing false information, and released to her mother. 

RETAIL THEFT

On June 2 at 8:15 p.m., Britney Sambrick, 18 yrs old of the 2200 block of New Hope St in Norristown, was arrested for Retail Theft at the Giant Food Store, 1760 Dekalb Pk. Police were called to the store after the Loss Prevention Officer saw her conceal $53.89 worth of personal items in her handbag and then leave without paying for them. She was arrested for summary Retail Theft and released. 

DUI

On June 4 at 12:42 a.m., an officer was behind a gray Mazda in the left turn lane of westbound Skippack Pk. at Penllyn Pk., and observed the driver stop in the middle of the intersection at a green light, sit through a red cycle of the light and when it turned green again for Skippack Pk., the driver did not go. The officer walked up to the car and it appeared that the driver, identified as Stephen Petsis, 32 yrs old of the 100 block of Macklenburg Dr in Penllyn was falling asleep at the light. The officer could smell alcohol through the opened window. Mr. Petsis was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital for blood and will be charged with DUI and other traffic offenses when the blood results are received. 

DUI

On June 5 at approximately 4:18 a.m. Thomas Daniels, 67 yrs old of the 100 block of Sawgrass Dr was taken into custody for DUI after he was stopped for traffic violations on Dekalb Pk at Cherry Rd. He was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital for blood and charges including DUI and traffic offenses will be filed upon receipt of blood results. 

WARRANT SERVICE

Robert Graham, 35 yrs old of the unit block of Bridle Ln. was taken into custody on a warrant for probation violations out of Philadelphia on June 5 at 4:04 p.m. Mr. Graham was seen passing a lane of stopped traffic on the shoulder of the road, on Skippack Pk. in the area of Union Meeting Road. He was issued two traffic citations for Careless Driving and Driving Under Suspension. He was later released to Philadelphia’s Warrant Unit.
