The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners is holding public hearings Thursday at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. regarding the county's proposed 2013 operating budget.
The $413.8 million budget avoids a tax increase for county residents, but dramatically reduces or eliminate funding for a variety of public assistance programs and other social services. Representatives from affected groups are expected to testify at today's hearings.
Patch will have a report on the hearings later today.
Thanks. We'll email you the next time we update this story.

Have to give props to the Commissioners for proving it is possible to reduce discretionary spending when the budget says you absolutely must. Hope the yahoos in Washington were watching!
I'm all for helping people in need when finances allow. But the MontCo budget situation is a messy parting gift left by the loathsome Jim Matthews and his co-conspirator, Joe Hoeffle. Those on need can thank those two for screwing up the County's finances.

I'm glad to see Tea Party Josh and Leslie are too busy sucking up to Grover Norquist and cutting education by 25% rather than God-forbid slightly raise taxes. And these two say they are Democrats???
