Whitpain Township Approves Stop Sign Ordinance

19 new stop signs will be installed in Whitpain Township.

Whitpain Township has approved 19 intersections throughout the township to install stop signs.

The two main stop signs that were the subject of a public hearing on Oct. 2, Yost Rd. at Cortez Rd. and Oak Street and Railroad Ave. in West Ambler.

According to a report in the Ambler Gazette, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the ordinance at the Tuesday meeting.

The intersection of Yost Rd. and Cortez Rd. will create a three way stop and add increased signage including "line markings, a flashing warning device and other signs along Yost to warn drivers of the upcoming stop signs."

In West Ambler, the ordinance will add a three way stop at Oak St. and Railroad Ave.

Originally in the ordinance was a stop sign at the intersection of Wentz Rd. and Plowshare Rd. and Cherry Rd., creating a four way stop.

Questions and concerns from residents about the intersection caused the township to revise the ordinance and remove the intersection.
