Raised just outside of Boston in Revere, MA, where its famous beach is better known for girls with big hair than its history as a popular tourist attraction, Danielle was raised on a variety of popular music, from her parent's Motown records to the classic rock influences like The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin that encouraged her to learn to play guitar at thirteen. A passion for the arts and an outstanding gift for writing lead her to Emerson College in Boston's downtown theater district. After graduating with a degree in Creative Writing, she put her writing skills, originally intended for novels, towards songwriting and began performing at open mike nights in the Boston area. This set in motion what would become a full-time career in music.
Lyra Project is an American Alt-Pop duo based near Philadelphia, PA, the band consists of songwriters Debra Lee (vocals, piano-keyboard) and Rick Denzien (guitar, vocals). Denzien produces and engineers Lyra Project's music and unique sound on their first CD release entitled LP1. Their music emphasizes melody, which jumps out at the listener, often combining different aspects of classic 1960s style pop music structure with updated production and instrumentation. The duo is most noted for impressive vocal harmonies which blend seamlessly, enriching the melodies and songs, making Lyra Project's music interesting and fresh. An excellent strength are female lead vocals, which grab and impress listeners. Instrumental leads are spot-on, tuneful, interesting and well-articulated. There is no overplaying, and nothing is lacking, either. Lyra Project's choruses and anthems can hang with the best jams out there. Song structures offer balance in repetition and surprise, and strong "just right" arrangements and instrumentation give listeners a better sense of what's happening melodically and harmonically. Songs address rising above adversity, inner strength and empowerment, and are often at the same time spiritual and sensual. The duo's name is inspired by Greek mythology and biblical references to the "lyre", an instrument that's the ancestor of both piano and guitar. Lyra is a constellation in the Vegas star system.
