Ambler's The Painted Home Featured Room at Home Show

The Philadelphia Home Show features four beautifully decorated rooms, one of those is by Ambler's own The Painted Home.

The Painted Home is the new comer to the Philadelphia Home Show this year. Showcasing her unique rustic, “Ralph Lauren meets recycled” look, as described by owner Denise Sabia.

Sabia said the four decorated rooms are the highlight of the home show, and the other three designers are veterans of the home show. She described her room as “budget friendly” and something you could actually do in your own home.

The room is a guest bedroom and home office, showing guests that they can maximize their space and keep it fun and functional, she said.

She said she gets a lot of her ideas from flea market, thrift stores and vintage shops. But many of the items in her room at the home show she found for free and is repurposing.

The headboard is an old vintage door, the dresser she found and refinished. The suitcases she found. She cleaned them up and is using them in place of the missing drawers.

The globe she sliced in half and is using it lights. The wanes coating that the lines the room was once shipping pallets.

Sabia, an Ambler resident, said she began interior design as a child. She was the kid always redecorating her room. But she really got into it when the faux finishes were all the rage. When she came into someone’s home, she took all of the furniture out of the room, painted, and when she moved the furniture back in, she’d rearrange it.

She went back to school at Philadelphia University for interior design. “Its fun and I’m addicted to it,” she said.

At The Painted Home, she’s done everything from helping to rearrange a room, to helping as a family rebuilt a home. And she’s worked with people all over the country, designing boards and telling them where to purchase items and where to place them.

Sabia said Alyson Caplan, Exhibit Manager for the Philadelphia Home Show called her and invited her to be an exhibitor at this year’s show.

She began setting up the room on Tuesday morning and has to be completed by Friday afternoon.

I’m so bless and honored” for my friends and family,” said Sabia. “Everyone is chipping in just because I have a vision.”

The 2012 Philadelphia Home Show runs Jan. 14 to 22 at the Philadelphia Convention Center.

I always admire people who have innate home decorating talents. I always try to move the furniture in my home around but it always ends up messy. I like how Sabia decorates houses and its no wonder why she is able to have a featured room at a Home Show. - http://www.brandenberryamishfurniture.com/blog/
