Blue Route Taco Truck Open for the Season

The Blue Route Taco Truck at Whole Foods Plymouth Meeting, opened for the season Monday, March 18. The popular lunch truck, positioned on the roof of the organic grocery store, is currently only open for lunch, with hours 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and is weather dependent.

The menu on the taco truck has changed since opening in April of 2011. Lance Hendrix, who works the Blue Route told Patch that the beef recipe for their beef tacos has changed from a roast-style beef to a ground beef and the chicken recipe for the chicken tacos is now a ancho pepper seasoned and slow roasted, then shredded. He said the chicken has a sweetish flavor and mild, not spicy.

He added that the slaw on the fish taco has been changed and is not as wet and the salsa verde used on the pork taco is being made in house this year.

He also said the veggie option has changed, and is now a vegan option with fajita vegetables that is topped with a corn salsa.

On top of the menu changes, there have been menu additions, including a "Make Your Own" option, which include burritos, nachos, rice bowls and taco salads. For these you can choose your protein option and the toppings you want. The proteins and toppings are the same options from the tacos, but you can mix and match, Hendrix said.

He said there will also be special items that will be offered at the taco truck for only a week or two and those will be advertised on the store's Facebook page, Twitter page, and in store by the Blue Route Taco Truck.

Sodas, tea and beer will continue to be offered, and Hendrix said they are working on offering margaritas as well.
