The name "Chamaeleon" truly fits the Ambler boutique that continues to change with the season.
Rosa Zeibari said when Chamaeleon Boutique opened in Ambler five years ago, there were a number of boutiques, however, they all closed shortly after Chamaeleon opened. Today, she said there have been a lot of good changes in the borough, with more boutiques moving in, a variety of restaurants, and lots of events in town to keep the community excited.
In the past five years, Zeibari said she and her sister and co-owner, Ani Kech, have grown in the business and have learned what they are good at and have learn what to look for and what to train employees in to fulfill the vision of the store.
She said they have also learned what does and does not sell at the store, and how much of each product will sell. They buy only enough that will sell during a season and whatever does not, they mark down at the end of that season to get it off the shelves. Zeibari said there is rarely ever extra inventory in the back of the store.
She added that while there are a few lines in the store that never change, such as the Chamaeleon signature Alex and Ani bangles and Chamilia beads, everything else in the store changes seasonally and they never order the same thing twice.
This year, Chamaeleon will also be launching a website, where online shoppers can purchase their unique items direct from the online store. They have also launched themselves on Instagram and Pinterest.
Every year since Chamaeleon has opened in Ambler, they have celebrated their birthday with a party in the store and discounts.
For their five year anniversary, begin celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 2, they will have a champagne bar, where guests can choose from a variety of champagnes and add their own fruits and flavors. Everything in store will be between 20 and 50 percent off as well for that day only. Zeibari said it's their way of thanking their customers for supporting them throughout the year.
They are also hosting the first ever Men's Panic Party on Feb. 13 where men can come in and shop for Valentine's gifts for their significant others and enjoy beer and popcorn provided by Chamaeleon.
In addition, Chamaeleon holds shop and donate nights for area non-profits, where the store donates a percentage of the night's sales back to the non-profit. The store also donates to the Epilepsy Foundation for Eastern Pennsylvania yearly, with two events, one held at the store and another event held at an area business. Zeibari said the store has been holding events to raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation for Eastern Pennsylvania for the last three years, and every year the events get bigger.
