John Lithgow takes the title role in this fast, brilliantly plotted farce set in Victorian London. A respectable magistrate finds himself caught up in a series of scandalous events that almost cause his disgrace. High-spirited carousing leads to outrageous mishap, culminating in proceedings in court the next day.
