Gwynedd Mercy University will host an information Open House for its newest degree program, the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in Assumption Hall, on campus of Gwynedd Mercy University.

Prospective students will enjoy dinner and have the chance to win a $100 VISA gift card during the program overview. Nursing faculty members will also be available to meet with prospective students and answer questions about Gwynedd Mercy University’s nursing program.

Registration is required at GMercyU.edu search “Graduate Events” or call 267-448-1349.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a 39-credit program post-Master’s designed to meet the needs of practicing masters-prepared Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Certified Nurse Anesthetists and Certified Mid-Wives who recognize the need for more extensive education to assume leadership positions in advanced practice nursing.

Students will be prepared to practice as an advanced practice nurse as either a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CNA) and Certified Mid-Wife (CNM). The DNP program builds on the current master’s degree programs providing doctoral level content in advanced practice nursing, research, evidenced based practice, ethics, social policy, theory, leadership, systems management, and nursing informatics.

Although it is not a basic research doctorate, the DNP requires an evidenced based scholarly project that addresses a high-priority area of advanced nursing practice that requires public dissemination.
