Blue Bell Man Charged with DUI in North Wales

A Blue Bell man has be charged with DUI in connection with a Sept. 14 incident in North Wales.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 14, at approximately 11:29 p.m., an officer was on a special detail at a local bar and restaurant located at 201 East Walnut St. in North Wales. 

The officer allegedly observed a dark colored Infiniti stopped on 2nd St. near the intersection of East Walnut St. After observing the vehicle sit in the same location for several minutes, the officer approached the vehicle and knocked on the driver's side window to make sure everything was all right and to inform the driver that his vehicle had to be moved because it was causing a traffic hazard. 

According to the court documents, the driver, identified as Chris Condello, of Blue Bell, opened the window as requested. Condello was the only occupant in the vehicle.

While speaking to Condello, the officer allegedly noticed a strong odor of an intoxicant emanating from Condello as well as red, glassy eyes and slurred speech. 

According to court documents, Condello offered that he had been drinking at the bar. The officer asked Condello to submit to a series of field sobriety test, which he agreed to submit to, and all tests were allegedly completed unsatisfactorily. Condello also allegedly submitted to a portable breath test which produced a failing result. 

Condello was taken to the Towamencin Police Department, where he allegedly submitted to a breath test, administered by Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, which produced a result of .136% blood alcohol content.

A preliminary hearing for Condello is scheduled for Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. at District Court 38-1-21 in front of District Judge Robert Sobeck.
