Elderly Whitpain Couple Robbed, Attacked With Hammer in Home Invasion

Police said three black men may have followed the couple home from their Philadelphia business. One alleged robber was captured on surveillance video.

Whitpain Township Police are searching for three black men involved in a home invasion robbery last Wednesday evening on the 600 block of Wyndrise Drive, who may have followed the victims to their home.
Police said two elderly residents, who own a business in Philadelphia, arrived home at 10:48 p.m. Wednesday and were unpacking their car after a shopping trip when the husband was attacked by three men in the driveway.
The husband was severely injured by one of the men, who assaulted him with a hammer multiple times, police said.
The husband was brought inside and separated from his wife, police said. Meanwhile, the wife ran to the front door, screaming for help, but was also attacked, police said.
The robbers demanded money, and the wife gave them an undisclosed amount, before setting off an alarm, police said.
The men then fled in an unknown vehicle, police said.
The assailants are described as three black men in their 20s, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with thin builds, police said. All three wore white T-shirts around their faces, police said. One robber wore red sneakers, police said.
According to CBS3, the victims may have been followed after closing their business that day. Surveillance footage captured a person of interest from one of the locations where the victims stopped before arriving home, per the report.
The individual captured on video was wearing black running pants with a green stripe and red sneakers, per the article. Police believe the man was driving a silver four-door sedan.
