Fire Destroys Family Room of Lower Gwynedd Home

A fire that began in the family room of 305 Walnut St. in Penllyn was controlled by local fire departments.

A fire in the family room addition to 305 Walnut St. in Penllyn began to spread into the main part of the home on Saturday morning, drawing out Wissahickon, Centre Square, Colmar and North Penn Fire Departments to the scene.

John Leadbeater, Chief said the department received a call at 10:57 a.m. and when they reached the residence, they forced in the door to the addition where the fire had begun. The fire was mostly contained in the addition but had started to encroach slightly into the main house.

Leadbeater said the siding at the back of the addition was melted and firefighters pulled it back and removed it from the house to control the fire.
