On early Friday morning, Ambler Borough Police caught sight of Arik Garth, who is charged with four counts of burglary, six counts of theft and three counts of criminal mischief, in connection with a .
According to police, a black male was seen reclining in the driver’s seat of a vehicle along Heckler St. Garth exited the vehicle, jumped over residential fences and run through backyards, and a short foot chase ensued through a wooded area near Heckler St.
Ambler Police requested a K9 unit, Montgomery Township Police responded, and checked the area for the subject.
Police said around 4:30 a.m., Officer Matt Treotola heard footsteps and twigs breaking in the wooded area behind the 300 block of Butler Ave.
The subject was identified as Garth and another foot pursuit ensued.
Police told Patch that at this time, another K9 unit was request, and Upper Moreland police Department responded.
At 5:50 a.m., police said the subject was spotted again and this time taken into custody in the wooded area near Ambler Extended Care.
Police told Patch that neighbors reported the sounds of gun shots in the area of Heckler St., but no shell casings and no evidence of gun shots could be found.
