Man Beaten at Upper Dublin Bar

Upper Dublin police seeking witnesses

Update on this story here.

Police are looking for witnesses to the beating of a Lansdale man outside an Ambler bar on Saturday night, WPVI-TV reports.

Vince Visco, the owner of the Fireside Bar & Grill, told WPVI that he called 9-1-1 after the bar's disc jockey alerted him to the incident.

The victim, identified by WPVI as Dave Rogers, posted a photo of himself in his hospital bed at Abington Memorial Hospital on his Facebook wall early Sunday afternoon with the caption, "Happy St. Patrick's Day."

Anyone who was in the Fireside Bar and Grill on Saturday night is asked to call Upper Dublin police at  (215) 646-2100.

Any idea what time this happened
Jim in Ambler March 19, 2012 at 01:28 PM
What a crazy thing to happen!! Does this happen often there?
Leann Pettit March 19, 2012 at 02:00 PM
The original report from WPVI-TV says, "The bar's general manager says he was alerted by staff that a young man was severely beaten in the back of the bar late last night," meaning on Saturday.

@Jim in Ambler: I hear people praise the Fireside B&G, but the times I have tried it, the service is horrible, place is noisy, and parking limited. I don't know if this is only anecdotal, but I see police reports in the Ambler Gazette and the Patch from time to time, that the police are called there quite often for drunken behavior and DUI arrests. I don't go there anymore.

Try living near this place... Drunk asses peeing on your lawn, etc. The cops frequent the place often, so there will never be anything done about the many violations that occur there.
NuisanceBar March 19, 2012 at 05:18 PM
Annika, ahve you tried reporting the bar to the PLCB? Your quality of life really should not be affected the way that you are describing. I feel so bad for you! Eventually maybe they will be labeled a nuisance bar. Tell your neighbors the same..............
tk040 March 19, 2012 at 05:42 PM
The neighbors called the police at first, but it became quickly obvious that they were just annoyed by the calls. I think people may be afraid of retribution. This isn't the first incident, but maybe with the television coverage it received, the township will be forced to address some of the issues that the taxpayers have to deal with every single evening.

I work there and stuff like this NEVER happens. Yes the police get called every once and a while like at every bar, but mostly bc as a staff it is not our job to deal with customers who get outta hand. That is the police's job. We are not just a bar it is a family restaurant and the owner works very hard to keep problem ppl out of the bar. This is an unfortunate incident and does not represent the bar or the owners at all.
NuisanceBar March 19, 2012 at 06:24 PM
That's where you are wrong!! It is the job of the establishment to handle drunk or out of hand customers. It's called bouncers!! The neighbors shouldn't have to deal with the nonsense described above! The neighbors should rally and take some action about this place!!
what that guy wrote March 19, 2012 at 07:08 PM
This bar is definitely a problem. Its even worse to hear that the bouncers let the guy who did this out the door because they knew him, and the manager is not cooperating with police. This place should be SEVERELY fined or shut down.
Fulgi March 19, 2012 at 08:50 PM
It's a great place and all it takes is one a-hole to ruin things! If you don't like living near there move! It's been a restuarant bar for many years! I'm a Realtor look up Jim F.
Earnest McAelroy March 19, 2012 at 09:55 PM
I never go to Fireside cause my friends claim that its a Wop-Shop. Just like this Fulgi guy.
Earnest McAelroy March 19, 2012 at 10:03 PM
Fireside is a great place I agree with Fulgi.

Their Tuesday night trivia rules and I am there EVERY Tuesday night. Nevewr anyt incidents and it's usually ALWAYS crowded

hmmm ... Jim Fulginiti, local realtor, defends the bar in the area where he is trying to sell houses. No shock there. If this really is Jim Fulginiti with ReMax, it is sad that you would defend a bar over the home owners. My apologies to Jim Fulginiti if this is someone pretending to be him.
Don Wynne March 20, 2012 at 10:17 PM
The owner, the manager, and all the bouncers are covering for the guy. They let him sneak out of the place, while someone was yelling and pointing out the guy that was responsible for it. I can't wait for this place to be sued for every penny. Next St. Patty's we'll be partying at the Dave's Bar in Ambler!

I heard the bar manager turned the guy in. Way to step up to the plate.
th040 March 21, 2012 at 02:07 PM
Wow Jim F., what a caring realtor you must be. "If you don't like living near there move..." Most of the people living near there bought their homes well before the Fireside blew into town. Good luck selling any of the houses located near the bar. No parking for the taxpayers that own the homes, "family restaurant" employees outside at 1-2 in the morning speaking loud expletives, clanging bottles thrown in the dumpsters at all hours, streets littered with trash. It's a real treat.

First of all all bars have some incidents that occur. I remember a bar about 10 years ago called the rosemore pub, in horsham. I complained about the volatile behavior and the cocaine constantly left on the bathroom fixtures but they never called the police. At least this place calls the police and isn't afraid to deal with them and they have cameras everywhere which were turned over to police, so the guy will be caught. Don't let one incident turn you away from a place because if that does then you will probably never go to any bar again.
mike grant March 22, 2012 at 02:59 AM
Also renting or purchasing housing off a major.road or even near shopping, then you should know thre reprocussions of disturbing behavior. If it was a mall it would be worse. If your property hasn't been destroyed then I wouldn't worry about anything. Next time someone pees on your lawn and you see them then video iand let them know. Without proof if I were a cop there is nothing you can do. Its called evidence.
Ron Hill March 22, 2012 at 11:44 AM
That place is not a family restaurant after 8pm. It's a hang out for losers and wannabes. The cops should be patrolling for overserved drunk drivers
what that guy wrote March 22, 2012 at 01:22 PM
Great comment "Mike Grant". Do we know each other? The Rosemore Pub was a great dive bar, and there is a huge, HUGE difference between suspected drug use, and a man beaten to within inches of his life. Yes, while the manager Vince Visco did the right thing by calling the police, this bar dropped the ball by letting the guy that did this get away. And NOT turning him into police immediately.

Just to say Ambler is a great place to live. It's sad that one incident is tking fire like this when in more than one bar inciDents like this take place And not just bars in Ambler but no one on here is the judge or jury to make statements about eitHer party involved that is what juDge Zaffarano is for. And to degrade a town because of incident is terrible
jenn katch March 23, 2012 at 01:18 PM
The bar is a trouble spot and needs to go!
eddie murphy March 24, 2012 at 09:02 PM
I think MT should go to jail.
eddie murphy March 24, 2012 at 09:40 PM
I think the fireside smells like rotten icky icks
Jimmy the Gent March 26, 2012 at 03:09 AM
I heard when you leave the fireside after a night of drinking, your head really takes a beating.
Fulgi March 26, 2012 at 04:37 PM
Nope it's me! I stand by my comments
Fulgi March 26, 2012 at 04:43 PM
Very caring infact! Simply stating that if you don't like where you live then move! it's that simple!!! I'm thankful that i don't need to sell homes near the bar to be as suscessful as I am! My work ethic and clients speak for me!

Did you just realize he is a friend of mine? Anyway, we all need someone to be the voice for us now and again. And yes, he is doing better. Thanks.
