Montgomery Mall to Host National Police Week Event

Lower Gwynedd Township Police will celebrate the 50th anniversary of National Police week by joining other local law enforcement officials at a Montgomery Mall Police Week event, Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

According to the National Police Week website, the event was created through a presidential proclamation by John F. Kennedy in 1962, which designated May 15 as “Peace Officers Memorial Day.” The day and events throughout the week are designed to honor law enforcement officials that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

According to the Reporter, the May 18 event will feature Montgomery Township child identification fingerprinting, K-9 Unit demonstrations and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad robot demonstrations.

Lower Gwynedd Police and other law enforcement officials will also feature police vehicles.

Event participants will also have the opportunity to interact with various law enforcement, medical and local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, according to the article.
