Ambler Borough

THEFT

A resident of the 200 block of N Spring Garden St. reported on Nov. 14, an envelope containing checks was stolen from his vehicle sometime within the last week.

WARRANT SERVICE

Charles Haywood, 54 yrs of age of unit block of N Ridge Ave. was picked up on an arrest warrant from Philadelphia P.D. for drug possession on Nov. 14 at 9:20 a.m.  He was transported to the station where he was lodged and later released to the custody of the Philadelphia Warrant Division.

THEFT 

The owner of a business located in the unit block of Ridge Ave.  reported on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., while moving some items from her truck into her store, a backpack was stolen from the unlocked vehicle.  Backpack contained two purses that each had cash inside and assorted other items. 

HARASSMENT 

On Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m., Kristy Ragbir 20 years of age of the unit block of Orange Ave. was cited for Harassment after police responded to the residence for the report of a domestic.

THEFT

A resident of the 200 block of N Spring Garden St. reported on Nov. 10, her daughter’s blue and white Mountain bike was stolen from their porch between 11/6 and this date.  The bike was valued at $90.

DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

On Nov. 9 a resident of the 100 block of Mattison Ave. reported the driver’s side mirror on her ’06 Honda Civic was struck and damaged between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., while the vehicle was parked in front of her residence.

THEFT

On Nov. 9 a resident of the unit block of S Bethlehem Pike reported his blue, 2000 Yahama Blaster ATV valued at $1,500 was stolen within the last day.

VANDALISM

A business located in the 100 block of N Main Street reported on Nov. 8 vandalism to several windowpanes that were broken sometime over night.

Whitpain Township

THEFT

On Oct 29th police responded to the 500 block of Greystone Rd and met with the victim and his son regarding fraud. At that time it was reported that Tiffany Mitchell, 22 yrs old of the 900 block of N. Penn St in Philadelphia befriended the 89 year old victim, and then proceeded to defraud him of tens of thousands of dollars. She initially reported to him that she needed a kidney transplant and was having complications. The victim began to give her money and by preying on his sympathies the victim gave her a total of $38,000. A warrant has been issued for Tiffany Mitchell for Theft by Unlawful Taking, Theft by Deception, Receiving Stolen Property and Disorderly Conduct. Anyone with information on the location of Tiffany Mitchell is asked to call the Whitpain Township Police Department detective division at 610-279-9033. 

DRUG POSSESSION

On Oct 25th at 11:43 am an officer stopped a white Nissan on Skippack Pk in the area of Deerpath Dr for several vehicle violations. During the stop the officer smelled marijuana and a subsequent search of the driver, Keith Copestick, 18 yrs old of the unit block of Louella Dr in Plymouth Meeting, the officer located what appeared to be hallucinogenic mushrooms in his pocket. He was also found in possession of drug paraphernalia. The front passenger, Matthew Gusoff, 20 yrs old of the 1000 block of Easton Rd in Willow Grove was also found to be in possession of marijuana, numerous pills, a scale and a jar containing marijuana. Once lab results confirm the substances, Matthew Gusoff will be charged with Possession with the Intent To Deliver, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Keith Copestick will be charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

DOG LAWS

On Nov 12th at 10:28 am officers were called to the 1000 block of Oak Ridge Dr where a resident reported that his neighbor’s Pit Bull dog jumped over his fence and onto his property. The dog then took a seat cushion from his furniture and left with it. Police have had numerous contacts with this dog and the owner, Alphonse Defranceso, 45 yrs old of the 1500 block of Skippack Pk was cited for a violation of the Pennsylvania Dog Laws. 

DUI

On Nov 9th at 9:19 pm, officers received a report of a reckless driver in the area of Skippack Pk and Penllyn Blue Bell Pk. Police located the black Kia, stopped partially in the eastbound lane of Skippack Pk. The driver, Patricia Harris, 36 yrs old of the 200 block of South Spring Garden St in Ambler was obviously intoxicated. She was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital for blood and charges including DUI will be filed upon receipt of the blood results. 

DRUG VIOLATION

On November 9th at approximately 9:29 pm, an officer was on foot patrol in the West Ambler section of Whitpain Township when he observed a white Ford Pick-up truck pull in to the rear of 400 block of Railroad Ave. As the officer approached the passenger’s side of the vehicle, he saw the driver, identified as Joseph Sharon, 43 yrs old of the 3000 block of Conrad Way in Lansdale, appeared to hide something in his hand and run from the truck. After a brief foot chase Mr. Sharon was taken into custody and found in possession of cocaine. He was taken into custody and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia and Resisting Arrest. He was transported to Montgomery County Correctional Facility on a probation violation and for arraignment.  

DRUG CHARGES

On Nov 7th at 3:24 pm an officer observed a black Toyota speeding through, a neighborhood and then pull into the driveway of a residence in the 600 block of Cranstone Ln.  While the officer spoke to the driver he noticed a spoon in the driver’s side door with white residue on it and burn marks on the under-side. During a search, three more spoons in the same condition were located. The driver David Brown, 22 yrs old of the 600 block of Cranstone Ln was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The passenger, Michelle Farrell, 20 yrs old of the 500 block of Acorn St in Philadelphia was found in possession of two Hypodermic needles, a small amount of cocaine and numerous pills. She was arrested for Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Paraphernalia.  

THEFT

On Nov 7th at 11:28 am an officer responded to the 600 block of Wyndrise Dr where the resident reported that someone entered her garage and unlocked vehicle and stole approximately $600.00 in cash. An investigation revealed that David Brown, 22 yrs old of the 600 block of Cranstone Ln stole the money from the unlocked vehicle. He is being charged with Theft, Receiving Stolen Property and Criminal Trespass.  

DRUG ARREST

On Nov 7th at 9:40 pm officers responded to the 400 block of Railroad Ave for a report of a home invasion that had just occurred. While checking the area for suspects an officer checked Malique Meachum, 19 yrs old of the 300 block of Railroad Ave and located a baggie containing marijuana residue. He was cited for Disorderly Conduct and released.  

FRAUD

On Nov 8th at 10:50 am police met with a resident of the 1700 block of Sheffield Dr regarding fraud. The victim reported that after filing her income tax in February of 2011 she was contacted by the IRS and told that another person claimed her adopted son on their income tax. The victim advised she was contacted by the IRS on Nov 5th that someone had claimed her three other sons on their taxes. The incident is being investigated by the IRS. The victim filed a report of Identity Theft with Whitpain.  

FIREARMS CHARGES

On Nov 7th charges including Persons not to Possess a Firearm, Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia were filed against Michael Pier, 51 yrs old of the 800 block of Rabbit Run Rd. Mr. Pier was arraigned by District Justice Leo and bail was set at $50,000/unsecured. The charges stem from a search warrant that was served on the residence after an incident on Nov 2nd. 

VANDALISM

On Nov 8th at 4:05 pm, an officer responded to the Dekalb Pk lot of Montgomery County Community College for a report of vandalism. The victim reported that sometime between 8:00 am and 10:00 am, someone punctured one of the tires on his Honda CR-V. The victim reported that value of the tire to be approximately $130.00.  

ASSAULT

On Nov 13th at 11:45 pm, officers were called to the 1600 block of Sheffield Dr for a report of an assault. When police arrived they spoke with the resident who advised that her step-son, 34 yr old John Griffith of that address, had punched her in the eye. Police observed the victim had a laceration under her eye, along with redness and swelling. He was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and Harassment. While checking Mr. Griffith, the officers learned that there was an active warrant for John Griffith out of Deptford NJ. On Nov 14th Mr. Griffith was arraigned by District Justice John Murray III and bail was set at $2,500. He was transported to Montgomery County Correctional Facility. 

PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS

On Nov 9th at 3:27 am an officer noticed a male sleeping in the driver’s seat of a blue Ford, stopped at the gas pump at the Wawa, 1015 Dekalb Pk. When the officer spoke to the driver, Robert Wright, 62 yrs old of the 100 block of Carousel Cr in New Britain, he appeared intoxicated. He was arrested for Public Drunkenness and released to a friend.
