Grant Award to Connect Lower Gwynedd to Penllyn Woods and MCCC

A Montgomery County $450,000 grant will bring a new bridge to the Green Ribbon Trail in Lower Gwynedd.

Lower Gwynedd Supervisors are bringing together its township, Montgomery County Community College and Penllyn Woods through a new grant award.
The Ambler Gazette reports that supervisors this week approved a grant agreement between Lower Gwynedd, the college and Whitpain Township to develop a trail connecting Penllyn Woods with the community college through a $450,000 grant.
The grant award also includes a bridge be constructed over the Wissahickon Creek for hikers to traverse the Green Ribbon Trail along Township Line Road, per the report.
Lower Gwynedd Township will match $33,000, or 10 percent, of the 90/10 grant, with Montgomery County paying about $405,000 and Whitpain paying $12,000, per the report. Lower Gwynedd's cost is more due to the bridge.
The 100-foot bridge itself is estimated at $321,000, of which Lower Gwynedd will pay 10 percent of that.
