Kolcraft has recalled its Contours Options three and four wheeled strollers due to fingertip amputation and laceration hazards.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission release said a child or a consumer’s finger can get caught in the opened that is formed when locking and unlocking the hinge mechanism, which is used to adjust the handlebars on the strollers.
There have been five reports of injuries involving the hinge mechanism, including three children whose fingertips were amputated and two adults whose fingers were wither smashed or lacerated.
Kolcraft says there are about 36,000 of the two strollers in the US market and were sold at juvenile specialty stores nationwide, as well as Amazon.com, Target.com and ToysRUs.com, between January 2006 and June 2012 for $150 to $160.
Strollers in the recall have model number that begin with: ZL002, ZL005, ZL008, ZL015 and ZL018. Model number can be found on a sticker above the left wheel for the ZL002 model, and on a label sewn into the seam in the back of the stroller seat pad for the ZL005, ZL008, ZL015 and ZL018 models.
Consumers should stop using the product and contact Kolcraft for a free repair kit.
