StrikeCamp Fitness Kickboxing Bootcamp Class

Are you looking for a new, interesting, and fun way to get into better shape? Try a StrikeCamp Fitness outdoor kickboxing bootcamp class.

Join Heather Shaffer on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for an intense interval workout that combines plyometrics, body weight strength training, agility exercises, and kickboxing moves (including contact with targets) into a fun and practical workout. No prior kickboxing experience is necessary.

What to Expect

Expect to work hard for the entire hour...these workouts are designed to build strength, cardio conditioning, and blast fat fast. We alternate intervals of high-intensity exercise alternated with short periods of rest. Engage in this type of activity three to four days per week, and you will get RESULTS.

Here's a list of frequently asked questions to help you determine if this class is right for you:

What if I'm out of shape/haven't worked out in a while?

It's great to hear that you're thinking about getting back into a fitness regimen! The beauty of this workout is that you can take everything at your own pace, and every exercise can be modified based on fitness level or injuries. The fitter participants will take each exercise harder and faster, while Heather wants beginners to focus on form and injury prevention before taking it to the next level.

What if I have never thrown a punch?

You will certainly learn how to punch and kick correctly in this class! Heather will teach you the basics and talk about correct form so that you not only avoid injuries but so that you get the most out of your workout with her.

Is this a cardio kickboxing class?

No. There are no dance-type moves in this class. This workout is similar to the style of workout that a professional fighter uses to get in shape for an upcoming fight, minus the sparring piece. It is designed to increase strength and endurance.

What if I'm a man? Will I enjoy this workout?

Well, it depends on what type of workout you are looking for. If you enjoy the style of step classes and TurboKick, this most likely isn't for you. Heather's kickboxing workouts can most closely be compared to a bootcamp class that includes kickboxing drills.

What if I'm a woman? Will I like this workout? Won't I get hurt?

It really depends on what type of workout you typically enjoy. As stated earlier, if you prefer a step class or something like TurboKick, you might not enjoy this workout. There is no sparring, so you need not be concerned with getting punched or kicked. However, participants do make contact with targets, so you will need to pay attention to the instructions Heather gives you to make sure your form is correct.

What to Prepare

Please submit your registration online to avoid having to complete paperwork on the day of the workout (and so Heather can know how many participants to expect).

Bring a pair of protective (i.e., MMA or striking) gloves, a water bottle, a yoga mat (if you are uncomfortable doing ground exercises without one), and a towel. Wear comfortable fitness apparel and sneakers. You may also want to apply sunscreen prior to the daytime classes. A small number of loaner gloves will be available if you don’t own a pair.

Where we Meet

We meet in the parking lot in front of the pavilion. Please arrive at least ten minutes prior to the beginning of class. We will meet rain or shine.
