Female resident fought off intruder
Upper Gwynedd Police were still searching early Monday afternoon for an unidentified man who kicked in the door of a West Point residence late Monday morning and struggled with the female occupant before she chased him off with a knife. Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch reports that police are looking for a black male of medium build, about six feet tall, wearing a black shirt and dark blue jeans. A young black bear was caught in Blue Bell on Saturday and will be released back into the wild on Sunday.
A black bear, originally spotted by residents in Franconia Township, was caught on Saturday night in Blue Bell, according to NBC 10. NBC 10 reported that the Pennsylvania Game Commission said the bear is a young male and was captured once before and released into Schyulkill County, but has made it was back to Montgomery County. “The bear has been tranquilized and will be released into the wild on Sunday,” said the NBC 10 report.
A fire Saturday night destroyed a home on Railroad Ave. in the West Ambler section of Whitpain Township.
Centre Square Fire Company was called to 232 Railroad Ave. in the West Ambler section of Whitpain Township, on Saturday night for a report of a fire on the first and second floors of a residence. Original reports from Breaking News Network (BNN) said there was possible entrapment in the residence. Centre Square Fire Chief Lee Miller said after primary and secondary searches, firefighters found no entrapment in the home. There were no injuries to occupants of the residence. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The home has been declared uninhabitable and the Philadelphia Red Cross is aiding the five families, consisting of eight people. Theft – A resident of the unit block of Reiffs Mill Road reported on May 12, that her front passenger side window broken out and actor(s) stole her handbag and a Nook Color E-Reader from her vehicle sometime overnight. The value of damage to her vehicle is unknown; however, the total value of the Nook Color E Reader, handbag and contents is valued at $434.00. Investigation is ongoing… Theft – A resident of the 100 block of Rosemary Avenue reported on May 14 that his 32 speed red Wrangler bicycle was stolen from his backyard sometime overnight. The bicycle is valued at $450.00.

A second preliminary hearing for the remaining suspects is set for May 24 before District Judge Andrea Duffy
At the District Court of Judge Andrea Duffy Wednesday morning, 12 of the 32 suspects arrested May 8 in connection with a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking ring waived all charges against them to a July 5 arraignment in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Jason Whalley said a preliminary hearing will be held May 24 at 10:45 a.m. for the remaining 20 suspects, including what he called the "big players": Francesco "Frank" Messina, Dave Penna and Jeff Penna. A 60-year-old Lansdale man was found dead in White's Road Park Wednesday morning, and a source familiar with the case confirmed the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Lansdale Police responded to the park for a 911 call of an unresponsive subject, police said. An employee of the parks and recreation department discovered the man slumped over in a grassy area close to the tennis courts, police said. A preliminary investigation by police and Montgomery County Coroner's Office indicated the man died overnight May 15 into May 16, police said. No foul play occurred, police said. The identification of the man will not be released by Patch.
The Centre Square Firefighters who were honored this year by the Company were also recognized by the Whitpain Board of Supervisors on Tuesday night.
Alanah Ross has returned home to Richland Township
Former missing teenager Alanah Ross, of Richland Township, has been found. According to the Facebook page of Ross's mother, Michelle Long Ross, Alanah has been found after "10 long, frightening days. Ross credited her brother-in-law for helping get Alanah back home. "You will all never know how much your outpouring of love and concern has meant to our family. There is no situation that I can think of that is more difficult than not knowing where your child is or if they are safe," wrote Ross in her Facebook post Tuesday night. Attempted Burglary - On May 8th at 1:46 am an officer watched as a tan Hyundai pulled in to the parking lot of the Dekalb Shopping Center in the 1500 block of Dekalb Pk and drive around to the rear of the businesses. As the officer approached the rear lot, he saw a subject standing at the rear door of Dekalb Produce with a flashlight on and gloves on his hands. When he saw the officer he ran back to his car and hid the gloves under the front passenger’s seat. When questioned, he gave three different reasons as to why he was there. The officer also located a marijuana cigarette in his pants pocket. According to a report by 6ABC, police have identified the two people who were killed on Route 309 on Monday as a mother and son. “The Montgomery County Coroner identified the victims as 21-year-old Richard Guerrier and 54-year old Esther Louis,” said the report. The crash occurred when a Lincoln Town Car broke down in the center lane of northbound 309. The Coronor told ABC that Guerrier got out of the vehicle to look under the hood and Louis was still in the car. While the car was still sitting in the center lane, it was hit by a red Lexus SUV, killing both Guerrier and Louis. The driver of the SUV, also a 54-year-old woman, was taken to Abington Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic on 309 in the northbound lanes …
