Plymouth Man Charged in Theft from 202 Diner

Kenneth McNamara, 52, of Cardinal Drive, Plymouth Meeting, allegedly took money from the cash register at the DeKalb Pike Diner on Dec. 13.

A Plymouth Township man was arrested 15 minutes after he allegedly stole money from the register at 202 Diner in Whitpain on Dec. 13, police said.
Kenneth McNamara, 52, of the unit block of Cardinal Drive, Plymouth Meeting, is charged with theft and receiving stolen property, according to court records.
Police said McNamara entered the diner at 1765 DeKalb Pike shortly before 4:30 p.m. and took a seat and then ordered a water, according to The Times Herald.
Before he could order, McNamara allegedly walked to the register and took money from it, police said.
McNamara then fled on a bike, police said. 
A description was broadcasted to area departments of a white male in his 40s, wearing a gray and red sweatshirt, police said. McNamara was later stopped around 4:45 p.m. by a Plymouth Township Police officer, police said. The Times Herald reports McNamara was stopped near New Hope Street and Saw Mill Court. 
McNamara was arraigned by District Justice Zucker and committed to Montgomery County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $5,000 bail. McNamara remained incarcerated as of Tuesday.
A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 17 at noon before District Judge Robert Sobeck in Blue Bell.
