Report: Bomb Bandit in Blue Bell
A white male claiming to have a bomb on his person, took an unknown amount of money from the register and fled on foot.
Update 3 p.m.: Whitpain Police said the suspect had the fake bomb tied to his waist and wrapped in black electrical tape. The suspect then allegedly fled on foot, with no vehicle seen.
The Abington Police Department's K-9 Unit found the device in the Giant's store driveway, a short distance away from the entrance.
The suspect is described as being approximately 5'8" of thin build and was seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers.

According to the press release from the Whitpain Police, the suspect had adhesive tape across his nose and extending to both of his cheeks. He was also seen wearing sunglasses.

According to a press release from Whitpain Police, on December 4 at 11:57 p.m., Whitpain Police officers responded to the Giant Food Store, 1760 DeKalb Pike, for a report of a robbery.
According to the release, the investigation by police showed that a white male, who was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers, demanded money from the register from an employee on duty.

The male told the employee that he had a bomb concealed on his person and then displayed the device.
The employee opened the register and the male took an unknown amount of money and fled the store on foot, according to police.
According to the release, a device connected to this incident was later located on the grounds of the Giant Food Store. Montgomery Count Sheriffs Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene and determined that the device was not an explosive device.
Whitpain Township Police were assisted at the scene by East Norriton Police, Plymouth Township Police Department's K-9 Unit, the Montgomery County Sheriffs Department, Second Alarmers Rescue Squad and Center Square Fire Company - Fire Police.
