UPDATE: Slain Teen Identified in Fourth of July Shooting

MontCo DA Risa Ferman released information on the Fourth of July shooting, as well as the identification of one of the victims.

Members of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office and the Norristown Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday night in the vicinity of Marshall and Violet streets.

According to a press release, East Norriton Township Police responded to a report of two gunshot victims at the emergency room of Mercy Suburban Hospital at 7:11 p.m. on Thursday night. One of the victims – identified as Tyreek Fairel, 19, of King of Prussia – was being treated for a gunshot wound to the head, while the other victim – also a 19-year-old male – was being treated for a gunshot wound to the hand, the report states.

Fairel was later airlifted to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was pronounced dead at 11:18 a.m. the following day. The second victim was transported to a another hospital for treatment, but police said he was going to be "OK."

The surviving victim reportedly spoke to police, stating that he and the deceased were driving east on Marshall Street when their vehicle came under fire, according to the Times Herald. Chief Willie Richet, of the Norristown Police Department, added that the events could not have happened the way they were described to police, and the surviving victim is not cooperating with the investigation, the report states.

Police still do not know the exact location of the shooting, and the victim, who was supposed to give a statement on Friday morning,never showed up to the police station, the report states.
